Teachout strikeout on agriculture (already)

January 26, 2016

Teachout AgSo this just happened — NY-19 candidate Zephyr Teachout justified carpetbagging from Brooklyn to the Hudson Valley by stating, “her upbringing in Vermont had given her a good sense of the ‘struggles of former agricultural communities’.” In that case, she has some explaining to do regarding her support of the estate tax on family farms.

Teachout opposes raising New  York State’s estate tax exemption to match the federal level. And the Vermont Farm Bureau – the supposed source of Teachout’s agriculture values – completely differs with her because they support matching Vermont’s exemption level to the federal level.  Oh, and it should go without saying that the New York Farm Bureau where Teachout is actually running differs with her as well.

Go back to Brooklyn, Zephyr.

NRCC Comment:  “Zephyr Teachout says growing up in Vermont taught her about the struggles of the agriculture community but she advocated for higher taxes on family farms and small businesses when she ran for Governor in New York.  Zephyr Teachout is already demonstrating that she’s clueless about the Hudson Valley, which makes sense considering she has lived in Brooklyn for years.” –NRCC Spokesman Chris Pack
